Project
Update! Taylor Engineering is pleased to announce that the City of Taylor Engineering is now ready to move to the final phase
of the 20 Channel project — preparation of final construction
documents for the dredging project. Taylor Engineering is ready to
help the City establish a special assessment district for this
project. For this effort Taylor Engineering will use the assistance
of Nabors, Giblin, & Nickerson, P.A., a Florida-based law firm that
concentrates its practice in representing municipalities, and the
Government Services Group, Inc., a Florida-based service firm that
works with numerous cities, counties and state agencies in the
development of funding strategies and models for a broad range of
community infrastructure needs. Following the establishment of a special assessment
district, Taylor Engineering will assist the City in selecting a
contractor to perform the work, and provide construction
administration and contract certification services during the
dredging project. Taylor Engineering is actively engaged in the Joint
Environmental Permitting process with the Florida Department of
Environmental Protection and U. S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding
the remaining 5 channels. The channels are Channel 2, 20, 22, 25, &
29.
Project Overview
Taylor Engineering will provide the City with a preliminary opinion of probable cost for the channels in the Miller’s Bayou, Pithlachascotee River, and North Bay Boulevard area. The cost opinions will include all expected engineering, modification of the existing Florida Department of Environmental Protection and U. S. Army Corps of Engineers permits, establishment of a special assessment district (provided by Government Services Group), construction, and final permit certification expenses. Other members of the Taylor Engineering team will provide important project data. Ardaman & Associates will collect geotechnical data from both the Miller’s Bayou and Pithlachascotee River project areas. Ardaman & Associates will also collect geotechnical data from a proposed upland dredged material management area (DMMA). Scheda Ecological Associates will perform a natural resources survey and report for the DMMA, and Group 3 Surveying and Mapping will perform topographic, boundary, and hydrographic surveying at the DMMA. Taylor Engineering will use the gathered information to prepare final construction documents for the Miller’s Bayou and Pithlachascotee River dredging project. With the assistance of Government Services Group, Taylor Engineering will help the City establish a special assessment district and ballot for this project. Taylor Engineering will assist the City in selecting a contractor to perform the work, and provide construction administration and contract certification services during the dredging project.
